It is often said that we live in a post-truth world where “truth” doesn’t exist anymore…
That looking for it is tiresome and fruitless…

I just took a breath. That’s a fact. Until you ask me and I decide to hide it from you.
I am very tired. That’s another fact. until my mind tries to persuade me otherwise and I choose to believe it.
I cared for you. Yet another fact. until you labelled it as manipulation and found a way to make it look like I was nice because there’s an innate need for me to be so, and that it has nothing to do with the calamity that you’re going through.

And so,
We play tricks on ourselves,
Our minds play tricks on us,
and we propagate such tricks on others.

We use words or silence,
Kindness or anger,
Anything and it’s opposite to hide the truth.

One element that always makes it way to our deceit is fear.
Fear of being known; to others but mostly to ourselves.

And so we hide and we lie so that we may be accepted,
and so we run away from ourselves and people and they in turn run away from us.

Truth can be painful,
but it can never be but beautiful.
The opposite is but a lie.
